Reading books increases intelligence, what does science say?

Intelligence usually refers to the combination of various functions of the brain. Such data collection, analysis, decision making and problem solving. Scientists believe that the more active the nervous system of the brain is, the more brain intelligence develops. Reading books is considered an effective way to increase brain function. French neuroscientist Stanislaus Duen has been researching the neural network of the brain for a long time. He said reading books helps to create new connections to the brain’s neural networks. When we read new information, different parts of the brain work together, forming the relationship between nerve cells and strengthening them. This results in the development of memory and intelligence in the long run.

From the psychology point of view, researchers believe that reading books helps create a ‘cognitive reserve’ in our brain. American psychologist and neuroscientist Robert Wilson researched this. According to him, those who study regularly are less likely to develop memory loss as they age. That is, reading books is effective for maintaining mental clarity with age. We get new information by reading books. They expand our thinking. Reading books enhances the ability to solve problems and helps create new ideas. Regular book reading enriches our vocabulary and enhances the ability to understand language. American educator and researcher Annie Cunningham has worked for a long time. In light of experience and research, he said, those who study more, have more linguistic skills and can think faster than others.

Reading books enhances our ability to focus on any task. Continuous reading habits help us to increase concentration, which is helpful in focusing deeply in work or studies. Psychology researchers agree on the emotional benefits of reading books. According to Canadian researcher Raymond Murray, those who read literature are very skilled in understanding the emotional state and feelings of others.
